The Zakat Bureau in Kassala Sends a Caravan to Support Displaced Persons from Eastern Gezira to Halfa Al-Jadida, Atbara River, and Al-Qurbah Localities

Kassala – The Minister of Social Development, the Acting Deputy Governor of Kassala, Omar Osman Adam, inaugurated today the activities of the caravan organized by the Zakat Bureau in Kassala State for those affected by events in Eastern Gezira, for 10 million Sudanese pounds, in the locality of Khushm al-Qurbah. The event was attended by the Secretary-General of the Federal Zakat Bureau, Ahmed Ibrahim, local Zakat secretaries, and several official and community leaders.
Hamid Ahmed Hamid, Secretary of the Zakat Bureau in Kassala State, explained that this food caravan was organized under the guidance of the Zakat Bureau’s General Secretariat in collaboration with the Gezira State Zakat Bureau. The initiative aims to support displaced people from Eastern Gezira, particularly in the localities of Atbara River, Halfa Al-Jadida, and Khushm al-Qurbah.
Hamid mentioned that the caravan includes 1,000 bags of sorghum, 50 bags of lentils, 50 bags of sugar, 50 bags of rice, and 50 jerry cans of oil. He added that the total cost of the supplies amounts to 10 million Sudanese pounds and will benefit 10,000 families, emphasizing that the bureau provides support and essential needs for the displaced due to the war waged by the rebellious militias against innocent citizens. He expressed hope for the victory of the armed forces and other regular forces and popular resistance.
Hamid further assured that the bureau will continue to assist the government in filling critical gaps and stabilizing conditions for those fleeing the war.

The Director of the Zakat Bureau in Gezira State, Issam Al-Din Al-Haj, praised the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Zakat Bureau in supporting those affected by the war, stating that the people of Eastern Gezira have suffered pain and displacement due to the war waged by rebellious militias against innocent people.
The acting Executive Director of Halfa Al-Jadida locality, representing the targeted localities, expressed gratitude for the substantial support from the state government and the Zakat Bureau, which organized the food caravan for those affected by recent events in Eastern Gezira. He assured that they promise to deliver this support to the displaced individuals in the designated locations for their accommodation.
The Secretary-General of the bureau clarified that the caravan aims to support those who have been displaced due to the rebellious militias, stressing the bureau's commitment to providing food and medical needs for displaced persons in shelters, in addition to offering material and moral support to the armed forces and other regular forces, as well as treating the wounded until victory is achieved and peace is restored in the country.
The minister praised the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Zakat Bureau in supporting those affected by the war and its generous contributions.
He stated that every time treachery and betrayal extend towards our citizens, the hand of goodness from our people in secure states, led by Kassala State, reaches out.
The minister emphasized the moral importance of this caravan, which symbolizes the unity of the nation and its resilience against the brutal aggression of the militias and their supporters.
He added that the state has received newcomers from all states affected by the war, and this is our duty.
Omar confirmed that the state government stands by the programs of the Zakat Bureau, which has been a pioneer in initiatives to provide material and moral assistance since the onset of displacement.
He remarked that the war is a lesson for us to learn cooperation, solidarity, and compassion among ourselves.
Finally, Omar called for addressing national challenges with increased production and a focus on the abundant resources available within Sudan.
