The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking held a meeting today, chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Committee President, Moulana Howaida Ali Awad Al-Karim, with representatives from the Civil Registry Authority, the Central Criminal Investigation Department, the Ministry of Defense, and the Expatriates Affairs Authority.
The committee discussed its response to the U.S. report and the U.S. presidential decision regarding the lifting of restrictions previously imposed on Sudan under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, urging to keep Sudan at its previous classification and defer evaluation due to the circumstances of the war.

Additionally, the committee reviewed the results of its communications with counterpart committees in neighboring countries for cooperation and coordination purposes, as well as its meeting with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). They also discussed the arrangements for a workshop titled "Combating Human Trafficking: National Efforts and Roadmap."
For her part, the committee president urged the represented entities to unify national efforts regarding both human trafficking and irregular migration, considering them as a single international issue. She also called on citizens to recognize the crime and its evolution to avoid becoming victims of criminal networks that are active amid the prevailing conditions in the country, such as the trafficking of women, children, and human organs and tissues.
