The Sudanese Ambassador in Cairo, Lieutenant General Imad Al-Din Mustafa Adawi, renewed Sudan's condemnation in the strongest terms of the devastating war waged by Israel against the sisterly state of Lebanon, which has resulted in the killing of thousands of innocent civilians, including women and children. Additionally, thousands more have been injured, and over a million people have fled their homes, which have been destroyed.
During his address at the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of representatives regarding assistance to the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, he stated, "We gather today while our Arab region is witnessing one of the most dangerous crises in its history. The continued Israeli arrogance and Israel's disregard for international laws and treaties, along with its persistent violations of international humanitarian law, its ongoing brutal aggression against the sovereignty of Lebanon, its people, and its land, and its practice of scorched earth policies, warns of the outbreak of a comprehensive regional war that will drag the entire region towards destruction."
He pointed out that Sudan also denounces the Israeli ground forces' invasion of villages and towns in southern Lebanon, coinciding with the continued airstrikes and artillery attacks, in a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. He reiterated Sudan's warning about the consequences of the irresponsible Israeli escalation since the beginning of its brutal war in Gaza and up to its latest military movements in southern Lebanon on the security and safety of the entire Arab region and the impact of these movements on civilians in Lebanon and beyond.
In this context, he confirmed Sudan's full and unconditional support and solidarity with the sisterly Lebanon, both government and people, as it faces ongoing Israeli crimes with bravery, wisdom, and patience. He called on international and regional organizations, both Arab and foreign, as well as all Arab countries, to expedite the provision of urgent humanitarian support, both financial and in-kind, relief and medical assistance, to Lebanon to help it confront this brutal aggression.
He expressed Sudan's confidence in the efforts of joint Arab action to mitigate the most catastrophic effects of this crisis, praising the efforts of Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan aimed at stopping the escalation and Israeli aggression. He renewed Sudan's call to the international community and the Security Council to fulfill their legal, ethical, and humanitarian responsibilities by compelling the Israeli side to comply with international law and international legitimacy resolutions, especially resolution (1701) calling for an immediate ceasefire and all hostilities, and for Israeli forces to withdraw beyond the blue line.
He expressed confidence that the resolution issued by this important meeting will reflect the common Arab stance supporting Lebanon's full sovereignty over its territory, within its internationally recognized borders, and for its constitutional national institutions to exercise their authority to ensure Lebanon's security, stability, unity, and the welfare of its people.
