Bujumbura - Hussein Awad Ali, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, headed the Sudanese delegation participating in the 23rd COMESA Summit, which was held in the Burundian capital, Bujumbura, on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
The summit addressed issues of intra-regional trade, investment, and the movement of goods and individuals among member states, aiming to facilitate their flow without obstacles.
The summit also discussed peace and security issues within the organization’s member states, including Sudan. The minister's interventions reflected the reality of the situation in Sudan, particularly regarding the violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces against citizens and their targeting of the state's institutions, supported by external parties providing them with funding, weapons, and mercenaries.
