Minister of Finance: World Bank Allocates $300 Million to Support Sudan

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, announced that the World Bank has allocated over $300 million to support emergency and conflict-affected areas in Sudan.

At a press conference held today at Daman Tower in Port Sudan, Dr. Jibril highlighted that these funds include $82 million for general emergencies, $42 million for education-related emergencies, and $100 million for additional projects.

Dr. Jibril noted the significant impact on Sudan due to the insurgency led by the Rapid Support Forces militia, which has systematically damaged critical infrastructure. He underscored that the ongoing conflict has incurred high costs, though exact loss estimates remain challenging due to limited access to severely affected areas. Dr. Jibril also commended the sacrifices made by the armed forces, joint forces, and other regular units in what he termed the "Battle of Dignity," extending condolences to the martyrs, best wishes for a swift recovery to the wounded, and hopes for the safe return of those missing.
