The Commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Northern State, Dr. Abdul Rahman Ali Khairy, met yesterday with a delegation from the International Committee, which includes representatives from the International Red Cross, the Sudanese Red Crescent, and the Danish Red Cross. The delegation, led by Moza bint Masoud, Head of the Field Protection Department, discussed various humanitarian projects and areas of intervention for national and international organizations, as well as reviewing activities under the Protection and Family Links projects in the state.
During the meeting, Dr. Khairy stressed the importance of activating the work of international committees and their affiliated organizations in humanitarian, service, and community work. He highlighted the pressing needs of displaced persons and refugees and emphasized the need for comprehensive field assessments to effectively address community needs.
Dr. Khairy noted that the Northern State is currently hosting over three million displaced persons, making it essential to evaluate their actual needs and determine priority areas for intervention. He emphasized cooperation with the government and supporting organizations to enhance humanitarian and voluntary efforts, especially concerning issues of migration and displacement. He also pointed out the immediate need for kitchen supplies, as well as psychological, health, and logistical support at reception centers, noting that the state is accommodating students from Darfur and other conflict areas for their exams.

Aisha Abdullah, Executive Director of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in Northern State, stated that organizations and associations under the visiting international committee will actively work to facilitate communication between displaced persons and their families, particularly in locating missing family members. She mentioned that the delegation will collaborate with relevant authorities to determine and prioritize the needs at reception centers, as well as among displaced and host families.
She added that the delegation from the International Committee will meet with organizations and UN agencies operating in the state and will visit reception centers and humanitarian service points involved in the Protection project. The visit will include monitoring and evaluating activities related to the International Committee’s work and providing direct support to specialized hospitals in Dongola and Halfa through medical equipment and supplies.
The International Committee delegation, which includes the International Red Cross, the Sudanese Red Crescent, and the Danish Red Cross, will remain in Northern State for several days. The team, led by Moza bint Masoud, includes Sairina Midour, Cooperation Specialist, Nadia Ahmed from the Family Links Protection Department, and Mr. Hector, Country Director for the Danish Red Cross.
