Humanitarian Aid Delegation Arrives in Kadugli

A humanitarian aid delegation arrived in the capital of South Kordofan state via air, coming from Juba, South Sudan, and landed at Kadugli Airport for the first time after an absence of more than eighteen months.

The delegation was received by Major General Faisal Mukhtar Al-Sayir, Commander of the 14th Infantry Division, along with the state security committee and ministers of the state government. This visit marks the implementation of an agreement between General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan and General Salva Kiir Mayardit to open safe corridors for delivering humanitarian aid to those in need.

Mr. Sadiq Adam Ibrahim, the head of the visiting delegation, confirmed that the visit is in line with the directives of the Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdul Fattah Burhan, and the President of South Sudan, General Salva Kiir, with the follow-up of the Chairman of the Joint Emergency Mechanism, General Ibrahim Jaber, a member of the Sovereign Council. The aim is to open safe corridors for transporting humanitarian aid by land and air to the citizens of Kadugli and Jeld. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the government of South Kordofan, the government of Sudan, the government of South Sudan, and all parties that contributed to the success of the first trip. The South Kordofan Minister of Health and Social Development also expressed appreciation for the delegation’s arrival, recognizing the challenges they faced and their concern for the state’s people, who have endured significant hardship and hunger.


She stated that delivering humanitarian aid represents a victory for the will of the state's citizens and their patience, and this is an opportunity to alleviate the suffering of our people. Mr. James Paul, South Sudan's Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and a member of the delegation, stated that the upcoming relief efforts will focus on aiding those in need in Kadugli and the Jeld area. He affirmed the South Sudanese government’s support for Sudan and its commitment to implementing protocols for the aid corridors, expressing hope that humanitarian assistance will reach the region promptly.
