Holding the First Part Exams for the Sudanese Medical Specialties Council in Kassala

The University of the East for Science and Technology, through its Faculty of Computer Science, hosted the first part of the exam for the Sudanese National Council of Medical Specialties at the Kassala Center. A total of 195 doctors participated, specializing in pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT, emergency medicine, and community health.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel Razek El-Desouki, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Kassala University and Chairman of the Council, praised the University of the East for hosting the exams, which are conducted electronically as part of the Council’s efforts to hold medical specialization exams to address the gap in the country and facilitate doctors’ progress in obtaining academic degrees to be qualified professionals serving the nation, especially under current circumstances.


He stated that the exams proceeded smoothly, extending his thanks and appreciation to the University of the East, consultants, and specialists for overseeing the exams in their respective fields.

Dr. Mahjoub Babiker Mohamed Ahmed, a forensic and toxicology consultant and representative of the Director of the University of the East, described the partnership between the university’s Faculty of Medicine and the Sudanese National Council of Medical Specialties in Kassala as mature and fruitful. He expressed hope that this collaboration would serve as a model for future partnerships among major universities with medical faculties, particularly given the country’s current situation. He also wished for the partnership's continuity, highlighting the visit of the Council’s Secretary-General, Prof. Ahmed Farah Shadoul, to the university to assess its exam-hosting preparations.

He added that the exams were a successful experience, providing comfort for students, professors, consultants, and specialists, which contributed to the success of the event. Notably, the exams included 1,753 doctors, with 1,457 located inside Sudan and 296 outside, spread across eight centers in Sudan: Al-Obeid, Kosti, Gedaref, Kassala, Atbara, Port Sudan, Shendi, and Dongola. Additionally, there were six centers abroad, located in Muscat, Doha, Cairo, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Sharjah. All exams commenced electronically at the same time, including candidates from foreign nationalities and universities.
