Dr. Haitham Calls for Integration of Efforts and Utilization of Health Competencies from the Region and Beyond

Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Federal Minister of Health, commended the World Health Organization’s initiative to harness health expertise across the region. He emphasized that many skilled professionals in the region can serve as communication bridges, ensuring high-quality healthcare for citizens.


Speaking at the Arab Conference on the Role of Migrant Arab Health Professionals in Supporting Health Systems in Arab Countries, held in Amman, Jordan, Dr. Haitham noted the forum's alignment with World Health Organization’s goals in the Eastern Mediterranean, particularly initiatives focused on optimizing health workforce capacity and investing in human resources as the cornerstone of stable and resilient healthcare systems.

Dr. Haitham urged the region to adopt several initiatives to enhance integration and better leverage the health resources of Arab countries, highlighting the WHO Regional Office’s Regional Alliance Initiative as a valuable resource.


He underscored the importance of utilizing both regional and international health expertise as a means of advancing health diplomacy and cooperation.


The conference brought together numerous experts and consultants in partnership with the Arab League, the Council of Arab Health Ministers, and the Council of Arab Specialties. Among the participants was Professor Ahmed Hassan Al-Fahl, who shared Sudan’s experience in combating mycetoma and was recognized as a leading expert.


Additionally, the Higher Committee of the Health Specialties Council convened on the conference sidelines, with Dr. Haitham representing the Sudanese government. The discussions focused on expanding training opportunities for Sudanese doctors in various Arab nations.
