Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Meets with the Executive Director of the World Food Programme

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met today with Ms. Cindy McCain, the Executive Director of the World Food Programme, in the presence of the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin.
In a press statement, the Acting Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs reported that the Chairman reiterated the government's commitment to providing all necessary facilitation to the World Food Programme and supporting its proposed projects. These projects include establishing a logistical base in Al-Dabba, Northern State, to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need via various airports in Sudan. Ms. McCain welcomed this initiative, noting that its implementation will be considered by the relevant authorities.

He added that Ms. Cindy McCain's visit to the country addressed the projects of the World Food Programme and the challenges facing humanitarian work and food distribution in Sudan for those in need.
He explained that she held meetings with Major General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces, as well as with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss ways to coordinate support for humanitarian efforts.
The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs emphasized the Sudanese government's assurances and its full cooperation with the World Food Programme as the largest UN organization operating in Sudan, pointing out that the partnership with the programme has been ongoing for many years.
He also stated that the Executive Director of the World Food Programme confirmed her dedication to providing humanitarian aid and support for Sudan, expressing her concern regarding the evolving situation in the country.
