Mr. Abdullah Ibrahim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, affirmed the ministry’s commitment to regulating and rationalizing public expenditure while addressing essential needs, despite the resource mobilization challenges and increased expenses since the outbreak of war in April last year.

He stated that the ministry is focused on prioritizing expenditures, with key areas including supporting the war effort by providing essential supplies to the armed forces, fully supporting the health sector, and covering the financial costs for delivering humanitarian aid to citizens in shelters and neighboring countries.

In a press statement, Mr. Ibrahim disclosed the ministry’s commitment to paying all compensations for federal employees, including salaries for national and state media bodies, the Khartoum Water Authority, financially distressed government agencies, and diplomatic missions. The ministry has also funded salaries for foreign-funded projects, pensions, and monthly support for higher education.

Mr. Ibrahim highlighted the ministry’s provision of essential services and resources to ministries and government units. This includes meeting educational process requirements, providing emergency supplies for the rainy season, and supporting pollution removal and sanitation efforts for civil defense following the war.

He also affirmed the ministry’s commitment to disbursing state entitlements according to the Resource Sharing Law and actual revenue flow. Monthly support for Khartoum State and other states has been increased, and funding has been provided for the agricultural season, electricity support, and the rehabilitation and maintenance of infrastructure. Furthermore, the ministry has fulfilled obligations for Sudan’s membership in international organizations, including commitments to the World Bank, African Development Bank, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
