Sudan’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement refuting allegations made by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government concerning an alleged attack on its embassy in Khartoum by the Sudanese Armed Forces.
The statement highlights the following key points:
The UAE’s claims are false and misleading. The Sudanese Armed Forces have consistently denied targeting diplomatic missions and have reaffirmed their commitment to international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The RSF is responsible for numerous attacks on diplomatic missions. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have attacked over 40 diplomatic missions, international organizations, and UN agencies. Sudan has formally submitted evidence of these attacks to the UN Security Council, including the attack on the UAE embassy itself. Despite this, the UAE has not condemned these actions.
The property in question is not a diplomatic mission. The property allegedly attacked by the UAE is owned by a Sudanese citizen and was not being used as a diplomatic mission. The UAE embassy had relocated to Port Sudan after the RSF, which the UAE supports, took over the embassy compound and converted it into a military barracks.
The UAE is misusing the UN platform. The UAE's repetition of these false claims is an attempt to divert attention from its own involvement in the conflict in Sudan and its violations of international law.
The UAE is providing arms and funding to the RSF. A UN Panel of Experts report has confirmed that the UAE is the primary source of arms and funding for the RSF. Numerous investigations have revealed that the UAE is supplying weapons to the RSF, including using the UAE Red Crescent as a cover.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting diplomatic missions and emphasized that the UAE embassy, like other missions, has relocated to Port Sudan and has continued its operations without any hindrance.
In conclusion, Sudan has firmly rejected the UAE's allegations and presented evidence to the international community of the UAE's direct involvement in the conflict and its violations of international law. The statement aims to set the record straight and expose the UAE's role in destabilizing Sudan.
