Acting Governor of Kassala, Major General (Retired) Al-Sadiq Mohamed Al-Azraq, instructed the Ministry of Education and Guidance to streamline its operations to meet the state's educational objectives. He emphasized the importance of formalizing the work of the Education Support Fund and creating a clear plan to utilize it effectively. He also stressed the need for cooperation between organizations and the ministry to provide the necessary educational inputs and other resources.
These directives were given during a meeting with the Acting Minister of Education and Guidance, Mr. Maher Al-Hussein, in the presence of directors of education departments at various levels within the ministry. The governor was briefed on the overall progress of education in the state, with a particular focus on Kassala locality, following the recent reopening of schools in the area.
The acting minister provided a comprehensive update on the steps taken to resume education in Kassala locality and the challenges the ministry faced during the process, which has been implemented in most of the locality's schools. However, there are still some issues that need to be addressed.
Maher highlighted that education has resumed in the rest of the state’s localities, though challenges remain, particularly in rural Kassala, where displaced persons are housed in local schools, and in New Halfa locality. He stated that the ministry is working on solutions to these challenges in the coming days to ensure the regular resumption of education in all schools.
The acting minister also revealed the ministry’s needs, including second-grade textbooks for secondary school and a shortage of seating. He discussed the ministry's efforts to integrate the children of displaced persons into various educational stages, noting that the ministry has provided a large number of seats for displaced students, particularly in the Kassala locality.
Maher also pointed out the situation of education at the intermediate level, which is currently housed in primary schools. He emphasized the importance of completing the ninth grade in schools so that third-grade students can complete their education.
