Intensive Regulatory Efforts by the Standards Authority in the Northern State, Al-Burgaig Locality

The Sudan Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO), Northern State branch (Al-Burgaig office), conducted intensive inspection campaigns in the Al-Burgaig locality yesterday as part of efforts to protect consumers and the national economy. The campaigns covered the Al-Burgaig market, Karma Al-Nazl market and a large number of grocery stores, cafeterias and hardware stores under the branch's plan to inspect industries and services.

Mr. Abdelilah Mohamed Ahmed, Director of the Al-Burgaig office, confirmed the coverage of all local markets, urging consumers to immediately report expired or non-compliant products. He revealed that the inspection campaigns would continue to cover local markets and neighborhood sales centers, emphasizing that these efforts underscore the authority’s commitment to consumer protection across the locality.

During the campaign, several violations were found in some shops, including expired goods and poor storage conditions. The campaign also included the review and regulation of weighing scales used in the markets. Additionally, the campaign featured the withdrawal of the pound (ratal) and educating workers on adhering to the use of kilograms and their derivatives in commercial transactions.
