Lieutenant General Yasir Al-Atta, the assistant to the Chief of the Armed Forces, revealed that he warned and hinted since 2017 about the inevitability of war between the Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces when he was the Director of Military Operations. He pointed out that he continued to send these warnings even eight days before the war during a Ramadan gathering attended by the most prominent leaders and representatives of the Forces of Freedom and Change.

In a televised interview, Al-Atta stated that the war began several years ago, with significant preparations from the militia and social and political mobilization. He clarified that the strategic goal of the militia and its regional backers was to seize power, a decision made after the corrective measures of October 25, 2021.

Al-Atta also discussed the overall battlefield situation, indicating that both operational and tactical conditions are progressing well, with improvements in the strategic situation as well. He emphasized that the senior leadership’s plans encompass a comprehensive strategic framework that includes several tactical operational plans.
