As part of the North Kordofan State Government's efforts to assess educational challenges, Engineer Muawiya Mohamed Adam, the Acting Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Development, along with Engineer Enas Othman Hussein, Director of the Land Management Department, and Engineer Amal Al-Tahir from the Executive Office, visited several schools, including Um Al-Hassan Abu Sitta Primary School for Girls, Al-Sayyid Al-Makki Secondary School for Girls, and Jamoua Intermediate School for Boys. The visit aimed to identify the challenges facing the state's educational system.
During his visit, the minister held separate meetings with the school administrations. He listened to reports on the progress of the educational process, where the school administrators emphasized the importance of providing teaching aids, school furniture, and books, in addition to hiring more teachers to address the shortage. This would help continue the educational process despite the exceptional circumstances the state is going through.
School principals also requested the relocation of the Khor Rabkouna slaughterhouse from its current location, as it negatively impacts the schools' environment and contributes to the spread of diseases. They further highlighted the issue of displaced persons residing in schools, creating an unsuitable learning environment. The schools are also hosting students from other states, including Khartoum, Al-Jazira, South and West Kordofan, and local areas of the state, necessitating interventions to provide breakfast meals for the students and teachers.
Engineer Muawiya Mohamed Adam affirmed his commitment to resolving the issues hindering the educational process, stressing the importance of combined efforts from both the government and the public to ensure a bright future for the country. He acknowledged the difficult economic conditions caused by the war but reaffirmed the state government's support and genuine backing of the educational process, with the Council of Ministers monitoring schools to ease all obstacles to learning in the state. The minister also commended teachers for their significant role in combating illiteracy despite the challenging circumstances.
To address the issue of the Khor Rabkouna slaughterhouse, the minister visited the administrative unit of Wad Akifa, where he met with Mr. Tigani Adam, the Director of the unit, and instructed the preparation of a study to resolve the issue of the slaughterhouse to prevent an environmental and health disaster. He confirmed that further necessary actions would be taken in coordination with the relevant authorities.
