The Governor of Northern State, Mr. Abideen Awadallah, emphasized the importance of effective partnerships that serve local communities in humanitarian, service, and developmental areas.

During the opening session of the "Sumood" project's introductory workshop, the Governor of Northern State emphasized the government's full support for the initiative, recognizing its potential to meet the community's short- and medium-term needs. The "Sumood" project focuses on enhancing community capabilities and promoting development in key areas such as health, education, and water sectors.

Abideen pointed out that the state is counting on the Sumood project to establish community partnerships that bring mutual benefit to Northern State on one hand, and the organizations supporting the project on the other. He confirmed his commitment to supporting the project to ensure it extends to all areas of the state.


Mr. Ameer Hassan Al-Bashir, Director General of the Ministry of Finance and Manpower, reiterated that the ministry is dedicated to overcoming any challenges that may arise during the project's implementation. He assured that the project is a priority for the state government, particularly in infrastructure development.

Furthermore, the Director of the Sumood Project in Northern and Nile States, Othman Abu Fatima, stated that the project has achieved great successes in all areas of work related to building community capacities in health, education, and water sectors.

Abu Fatima added that the project's duration is two years from 2024 to 2026, and it has been extended for another five years. He also stressed the importance of coordination between partners and stakeholders involved in the project.


Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid in the state, Dr. Abdelrahman Ali Khairi, mentioned that the commission, along with its partners from the Ministry of Finance, UNICEF, the World Food Programme, and the World Bank, has successfully advanced the project to meet its goals and achieve satisfaction.

Khairi called for continued support for the project, considering it one of the key pillars for community security, services, and development in the most critical areas needed by the community.


It is worth noting that the Sumood Project in Northern State is being implemented by UNICEF and the World Food Programme, funded by the World Bank, with the workshop activities coordinated by the Humanitarian Aid Commission and the Ministry of Finance in Northern State under the sponsorship of the Governor of the State.
