Sudan participates in the 57th session of the Human Rights Council.

The Attorney General, who also heads the National Committee for Investigating Crimes and Violations of National and International Humanitarian Law, Fattah Mohamed Issa Tifour, has arrived in Geneva, Switzerland to participate in the 57th session of the Human Rights Council.

According to the Public Prosecution, Tifour will present Sudan's statement on the human rights situation in the country amid the ongoing war and the accompanying violations.


The participation of the National Committee in the 57th session of the Human Rights Council comes to present Sudan's statement, which the Attorney General will present during the enhanced interactive dialogue session with the fact-finding mission formed by the Council.


The statement of Sudan will review the investigations and judicial procedures conducted by the committee and refute the report of the fact-finding mission and the recommendations it included of a political nature that do not fall within the mandate of the mission according to the decision forming it.


It is worth noting that the resolution that formed the committee was adopted by the Council last October by a narrow margin of votes, with 19 countries voting in favor and 16 countries rejecting it, including Sudan. No Arab, African or Islamic country was among the countries that supported the resolution.


During his visit, the the Attorny General will meet with the President of the Human Rights Council, the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, to brief them on the activities of the National Committee and the investigations it has reached, and to discuss aspects of cooperation between the Committee and the aforementioned parties and ways to develop them.
