Sudan calls on the UN Security Council to take a firm and clear stance on the continuous aggressive activities of the UAE against Sudan

New York - Sudan supported the complaint it submitted to the United Nations Security Council last March against the United Arab Emirates, followed by a letter dated October 11, 2024, to the Council. The letter contained new details about the ongoing aggression by the state against Sudan and its people through terrorist militias.

The letter from Sudan's Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council explained that the UAE is treating militia fighters wounded in battles at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi, and attached pictures of some of them receiving treatment at the hospital.

The letter also included details and photos of heavy artillery ammunition boxes bearing the name of the UAE, seized by the Sudanese Armed Forces following battles in Jebel Moya, in addition to trucks transporting weapons and ammunition for the militia with Dubai license plates and registration cards, as well as newly manufactured Emirati medical supplies found with the militia. It pointed out that these items are in the possession of the Sudanese Armed Forces and could be examined by UN experts. The letter also included details and photographs of boxes loaded with ammunition for heavy artillery with the UAE name captured by the Sudanese Armed Forces after the fighting in Jebel Moya, trucks transporting weapons and ammunition for the militias with Dubai license plates and registration cards, and newly manufactured Emirati medical supplies found in the militias' possession. He pointed out that these items are in the possession of the Sudanese Armed Forces and can be investigated by UN experts.

The letter stated that there are credible reports that the UAE is recruiting mercenaries from several countries to fight alongside the militia in Sudan, a method the UAE has used in its military interventions in several countries.

This is in addition to the financial, logistical, and diplomatic support the UAE provides to the militia. The letter emphasized that the UAE is no longer a mere indirect supporter of the militia but has become a key partner on the front lines of the war of aggression against Sudan and its armed forces.

Furthermore, the letter declared that this involvement makes the UAE a rogue state that defies international law and the UN system, actively seeking to destabilize other nations. It accused the UAE of pursuing a colonial project in Sudan based on the ethnic superiority of specific groups, thereby threatening coexistence and stability in the region.

The letter called on the UN Security Council to take a firm and clear stance against the ongoing aggressive activities of the UAE to Sudan, emphasizing its responsibility for the atrocities committed against civilians. It urged the Council to condemn the UAE's actions in the strongest terms and hold it fully accountable under international law for its aggression against Sudan.
