Signing of the Sudan Declaration for Corporate Social Responsibility "2024"

The signing of the Sudan Declaration for Corporate Social Responsibility "2024" took place at the end of the celebration of the International Day for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Social Insurance Hall in Port Sudan yesterday.


The African Center for Governance, Peace, and Transformation, in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development, celebrated the International Day for Corporate Social Responsibility. The event was attended by Mr. Fathallah Al-Haj, the representative of the Red Sea Governor, who spoke at the celebration. Also present were Dr. Maha Shabo, the representative of the Ministry of Social Development; Dr. Mujahid Haroun, the Director of the General Administration for Training and Administrative Reform in the Red Sea; and Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abidin, the Director of the African Center for Governance, Peace, and Transformation. Several officials and prominent figures were also in attendance.


Dr. Maha Shabo, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Social Development, expressed her hope to implement social protection programs with partners, noting that everyone is aware of the importance of corporate social responsibility in development issues. She confirmed that the ministry supports corporate social responsibility programs and projects in all their forms through workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.


In this regard, she mentioned that seven conferences on corporate social responsibility have been held to train specialists in this field across the states, explaining that government institutions coordinate with each other in providing social services, emphasizing that Sudan is in dire need of corporate social responsibility amid recurring crises.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abidin, Director of the African Center for Governance, Peace, and Transformation, affirmed their commitment to social work, especially corporate social responsibility programs, as well as integrating environmental, economic, and social issues with cultural and institutional values in addressing various concerns.


He pointed out that the African Center works in the fields of awareness, promoting the culture of corporate social responsibility, training, and capacity building, along with advocacy and technical support. He noted that through these fields, the center has managed to provide numerous training courses, programs, and initiatives that align with state priorities and the necessities of the current stage, in addition to the noble values of the state.


He emphasized the importance of celebrating the International Day for Corporate Social Responsibility to affirm the individual's role towards society, in addition to making this day a legacy upon which future interventions are built, deepening the culture of teamwork and corporate social responsibility, which has become essential for the development of local communities and participation in reconstruction and development.


She stated that Sudan is heading toward a post-war phase that requires everyone to stand united to revive the spirits needed to rebuild Sudan and restore what the war has destroyed. Notably, the celebration involved the participation of several institutions, including the Regional Network for Corporate Social Responsibility, along with the involvement of civil society organizations and the Commercial Farmers Bank.
