Northern State Governor: Standards Are a Fundamental Pillar in Supporting Development

Governor of Northern State, Mr. Abdeen Awad, highlighted the vital role of standards and metrology in daily life, describing them as essential pillars supporting his administration’s goals and advancing sustainable development. His comments came during a meeting with a delegation from the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO), led by Director-General Ms. Rahaba Saeed Abdullah. The Governor commended the organization’s efforts in quality control and monitoring within the state, particularly urging expanded coverage at border crossings.
The Governor expressed his appreciation for the organization’s distinguished social responsibility initiatives that address community needs. He also called for intensified awareness and educational programs to enable consumers to protect themselves and the community.

Governor Awad affirmed that standards provide a crucial technical foundation, necessary for Northern State’s strategic development plans and the well-being of its residents.
Ms. Rahaba Saeed Abdullah, the Director-General of the organization, emphasized her commitment to developing technical work in the Northern State, which holds many diverse and competitive resources.
The Governor also attended the opening of a hallmarking laboratory in Dongola, outfitted with advanced global systems, and received a detailed briefing on its operations. He further laid the foundation stone for a new branch building in Dongola.
Additionally, the organization’s delegation made inspection visits to shelter centers, the dialysis center, and the cancer center, and inaugurated a kitchen to prepare and provide meals for kidney patients.
As part of the “Standards as Mother of Society” social responsibility program, Ms. Rahaba pledged continued support for those affected and in need of care.
