Dongola - The Governor of Northern State, Abideen Awadallah, met today in his office with a delegation from the General Union of Sudanese Women as part of women's efforts to support grassroots and community organizations. Ms. Basmat Sharif, head of the General Union of Sudanese Women in Northern State, noted that the union, which had been previously targeted, was reinstated through a Supreme Court ruling. She announced that the union is preparing to launch several key initiatives, including interest-free loans, agricultural projects, and the "Our Strength from Our Homes" initiative. These efforts aim to empower economically active women by fostering self-sufficiency through agriculture, livestock, and various production ventures.
She added that many training programs are planned for human resource development and national education. She emphasized the union's focus on women's, maternal, and child health. She also extended congratulations to all Sudanese women on the occasion of Pink October, wishing them continued health and wellness. She stressed the need for social unity to affirm that women are the foundation of the home and its prosperity.
