Khartoum State: Meeting to Discuss Mechanisms for Implementing the Decision to Form Community Police Committees in Localities, Administrative Units, and Neighborhoods

The Secretary-General of Khartoum State Government, Mr. Al-Hadi Abdel Sayyed, met with the Assistant Director-General of the Community Police, Police Brigadier and Legal Expert Mohammed Saleh Mohammed Saleh, along with the state's Community Police Department, to discuss mechanisms for implementing the decision by the Governor of Khartoum to form community police committees in localities, administrative units, and neighborhoods.


The decision directs executive directors to form these committees under their supervision. The Secretary-General emphasized that the state relies on this project to establish security within residential areas and combat crime and negative phenomena.

The Assistant Director-General of the Community Police outlined the police’s role in maintaining neighborhood security through community committees. These committees help gather information to prevent crime and disturbances in their areas.


He added that the project builds on previous experiences, leveraging their strengths while addressing any shortcomings. A regulation has been issued to govern the committees’ operations, and he committed to supporting community police infrastructure, including providing equipment and vehicles.

He emphasized that community policing is a globally recognized concept, citing countries that have achieved significant success through this approach.
