Khartoum State Emergency Committee Decides on an Urgent Plan to Combat Dengue and Malaria Vectors and Accelerate Recovery Efforts in Bahri

The Supreme Emergency and Crisis Management Committee of Khartoum State, chaired by the Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Othman Hamza, decided today to implement an urgent plan to combat disease vectors, particularly dengue fever and malaria, and to provide the necessary resources for this plan.


During the meeting, the committee heard a report from the Ministry of Health, which emphasized that control campaigns must cover all localities. The goal is to prevent the spread of disease vectors from infected areas to regions where regular control efforts are in place.

In another context, the committee confirmed its support for the efforts to restore normal life in Bahri locality. The meeting urged all entities with service obligations in Bahri to expedite the fulfillment of their commitments as part of the ongoing efforts to bring citizens back. It also called on organizations to accelerate the implementation of their commitments to the people of Bahri.

Additionally, the Health Emergency Committee announced the implementation of a rapid response campaign in Bahri, focusing on environmental sanitation, the removal of household and medical waste, and the chlorination of drinking water from homes, markets, and river stations, as well as the control of anticipated diseases. As part of these efforts, mosquito nets will be distributed to residents, and medicines will be provided to 24 health centers and two hospitals in the area.


Lastly, the meeting was briefed on the completion of repairs to the water transmission line from Al-Qamayir, which will help restore water to several neighborhoods in old Omdurman, parts of Al-Thawrat, and hospitals.
