Governor of Khartoum: We Strive to Enhance Stability by Empowering Citizens to Resume Their Activities

The Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, emphasized the necessity of concerted efforts from all parties to enhance stability and restore life to the locality of Omdurman, noting that life has begun to return to the old city despite the significant damage to public facilities. This statement came during his visit to the Omdurman locality office, accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Khartoum State Government, Al-Hadi Abdul-Sayed.
The governor called for empowering citizens to resume their work and activities, confirming that the current priority is to restore water and electricity services. He also mentioned that several medical institutions have resumed operations, adding that Omdurman is expected to see intensified activity in the coming days. The governor also instructed administrative unit directors to oversee service delivery and ensure the equitable distribution of food and shelter aid. He emphasized that local authorities should remain closely engaged with citizens and work toward maintaining the continuity of essential services.
For his part, the Executive Director of Omdurman locality, Saif Al-Din Mukhtar, stated that the administrative units in safe areas have been completed to provide services to citizens. He added that the priority is to reopen the markets, and they have begun contacting traders to resume their activities in the main markets.
He revealed plans to execute the largest cleaning campaign in the middle of this month, with the participation of over 2,000 youths, supported by the organization "All of Us Values," and confirmed ongoing support for community kitchens as they play a significant role among citizens.
The Secretary-General of the Khartoum State Government, Al-Hadi Abdul-Sayed, stated that many activities have returned to Omdurman, encouraging a positive role that will reflect on stability and the restoration of life. He pointed out that cleanliness and environmental sanitation efforts have contributed to reducing disease incidence.
Additionally, Major General Saleh Hassan Bekhit, Director of Omdurman Police, reported that the police are working closely with the locality to ensure security, with eight police stations currently operational and four more expected to resume. He affirmed the police's strong commitment to maintaining security and restoring Omdurman to its former glory.
