Gezira State: Our Focus is Now on Supporting the War Effort to Defeat the Rebellion

Acting Minister of Finance for Gezira State, Mr. Atif Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Shouk, confirmed that the state is currently focusing on supporting the war effort to achieve victory in the "Dignity War," liberate the country from rebellion, defeat the Rapid Support Forces militia, and achieve stability.

In a press statement at the official spokesperson's platform in Port Sudan, the Minister emphasized the state's commitment to supporting the armed forces, popular resistance, and assisting the wounded, as well as supporting services related to the war and addressing the needs of war-affected areas.

He noted that the war has exacerbated the challenges faced by the state, creating a crisis of displacement and shelter. Additionally, the situation has been worsened by floods, epidemics related to the rainy season, and disruptions in the supply of essential goods, particularly consumer items, due to road blockages.

He noted that the war reached Gezira State in December 2023 after the militia invaded the capital, Madani, coinciding with the end of the fiscal year and the start of a new one, leaving the state without financial resources while facing numerous crises.

He explained that the financial burdens on the ministry are immense due to the war imposed on Sudan, especially in Gezira State, which has compelled the ministry to manage these crises and seek financial resources.
