The Deans Council of the Educational Colleges at the University of the Holy Quran and Islamic Sciences held an emergency meeting (No. 5) for the year 2024, Saturday, at the university's temporary headquarters in Dongola. The meeting, chaired by acting Vice Chancellor Professor Mohiuddin Abdullah Hassan, was attended by Dr. Ayoub Abdullah Ali, Deputy Secretary for Academic Affairs, along with deans of the colleges, deanships, and centers, both in person and virtually.
During the meeting, the council concluded, based on a mandate from the emergency meeting of the Professors' Council (No. 1) held on August 5, 2024, that the number of students registered to sit for the examination does not exceed 5% of the total targeted students. It also indicated that a significant percentage of students within the country could not communicate with the university regarding the examinations to clarify their status. There were also appeals from students studying abroad for a solution that would allow them to take the exams, along with other new technical and logistical issues.
The council decided to postpone the second-round exams for final-year students of 2023, the exams for the Colleges of Education and Computer Science, and the first-round exams for first-year students of 2023 indefinitely, allowing the colleges to complete the first semester curriculum for first-year students of 2022-2023, with exam dates to be determined later.
The council further approved the start of the second semester curriculum by December 2, 2024, at the latest.
Additionally, the council decided to review the attached dates in the current academic year's calendar concerning examination sessions specifically, and any other schedules that may result from that. It clarified that new examination schedule dates would be announced later. Several other issues and topics were also discussed during the meeting.
