Director General of Infrastructure in Gedaref State conducts a field visit to the proposed site for hosting Ethiopian refugees

Engineer Jaber Babiker Suleiman, Director General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and representative of the Governor of Gedaref, conducted a field visit to the proposed site for hosting Ethiopian refugees. He was accompanied by the Governor’s Advisor for Refugee Affairs, the Director of Refugee Housing in Gedaref, the Director General of State Water, as well as several humanitarian partners and organizations active in the state. The visit was in response to the expected influx of refugees.

During the visit, the team reviewed plans for the camp, ensuring it meets the required specifications to accommodate essential services in line with relevant guidelines. The goal was to assess arrangements for providing vital services, including health, water, roads, and education.

Engineer Jaber Babiker reaffirmed the state government's commitment to offering all necessary services to the refugees. He also directed the team to visit the Wad Al-Aqili Water Authority and focus on rehabilitating all water sources in the area to ensure a steady water supply for both the camp and the host community. In addition, Babiker expressed his gratitude to the citizens of the Al-Nahl locality, emphasizing that the state government will prioritize the rights of host communities. He noted that they will also benefit from the services provided by the organizations supporting the camp, including improvements in various sectors, especially the rehabilitation of water sources in the locality.
