Customs at Port Sudan Airport Foil Attempt to Smuggle 450,000 Saudi Riyals Hidden in Powdered Milk Cans

The Arkwit shift at Port Sudan Airport's Customs Authority thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large sum of foreign currency that was expertly concealed inside powdered milk cans, accompanying a passenger heading out of the country.

Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, the Acting Director-General of Customs, praised the high level of security awareness among customs personnel at Port Sudan International Airport. He highlighted their efforts to streamline customs procedures, monitor passenger movements, and prevent smuggling.

Major General Babker Yusuf Babker, the Assistant Director-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, also commended the Port Sudan Customs team, stating they serve as the first line of defense against smugglers and those who threaten the national economy.

Brigadier General Hisham Mohamed Hassan, the Acting Director of the Red Sea Customs Administration, said that this seizure demonstrates the Customs Authority's advanced inspection system and the vigilance of customs personnel at Port Sudan Airport.

In his statement to the Customs Authority media, the Director of Port Sudan Customs, Brigadier General Khalid Othman Mohamed Al-Faki, mentioned that through routine work to facilitate customs procedures for departing and arriving passengers, his team suspected a bag belonging to one of the departing passengers after he falsely declared the foreign currency in his possession. Upon inspection, in the presence of the bag owner, a sum of 450,000 Saudi Riyals was found hidden professionally inside powdered milk cans, in a failed attempt to deceive customs officials. He confirmed that the customs forces will remain vigilant against all desperate smuggling attempts, relying on a professional team of officers and modern inspection equipment.
