On October 2, 2024, the specialized public prosecution for children filed a complaint in Port Sudan under number 260 at the Family and Child Protection Police against the rebel Rapid Support Forces. The complaint alleges serious violations, including the recruitment of children, child marriage, killings, detention, abduction, harassment and sexual violence. It also addresses the seizure of civilian properties, such as health centers, hospitals, children's homes, and nurseries. Additionally, it mentions the obstruction of food and medicine supplies and the closure of roads, which has resulted in starvation and displacement among children, threatening their safety.
Dr. Abd al-Qadir Abdullah Abu, Secretary-General of the National Council for Child Welfare, explained that the General Secretariat has been monitoring the actions of the rebel militia in Sudan since April 15, 2023. On August 23, 2023, they confirmed that the militia was involved in acts prohibited by national, regional, and international laws, committing serious violations. This led the General Secretariat to file a criminal complaint to the Violations and War Committee directed to the Attorney General. Follow-ups continued until October 2024, when complaints were filed against the rebel militia under the guidance of Judge Ahmad Abdullah Abari. This process set the stage for presenting the case to the Violations Committee for investigation and subsequently to the Juvenile Court.
