Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Receives a Written Message from the President of the Republic of South Sudan

Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, received a written message from South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit regarding bilateral relations and strategies for their enhancement, as well as issues of mutual interest.


This meeting took place in his office with Mr. Tut Gulwak, the advisor to the President of the Republic of South Sudan for security affairs, who delivered the message.


In a press statement, Tut indicated that the discussion focused on South Sudanese oil and the necessity of overcoming obstacles to the flow and pumping of oil through Sudanese territories.


He emphasized that the oil issue is a priority for South Sudan, where pumping has commenced from the pipelines in the Jabalain area and passes through all Sudanese territories to Bashayer Port.

Tut reported that the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council directed the relevant authorities to facilitate and resolve any challenges hindering the flow of oil from the south through Sudan.


He confirmed South Sudan's readiness to implement agreements reached with the Government of Sudan, stating, "All technical teams from both countries are ready to increase production and ensure oil flow through Bashayer Port."


He added that his visit to Sudan, directed by President Salva Kiir, aimed to address all issues related to South Sudanese oil, highlighting the impact of the war in Sudan on the southern oil transport line and the resulting suffering of the South Sudanese people.


During the meeting, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council reaffirmed Sudan's readiness to provide all necessary assistance for the flow of southern oil and to offer all required facilities.


An agreement was reached to hold a meeting between the ministries of energy and oil from both countries to discuss how to address this issue, indicating that oil is a lifeline for the citizens of the two brotherly countries.


Notably, the South Sudanese delegation included, in addition to the security affairs advisor to President Salva Kiir, the ministers of the Presidency and oil, as well as the Director General of the Intelligence Service.
